Enjoy a cultural day 1,5 hours north of Quito. The area is special because there are still a lot of Indigenous (Quechua people) living there. The landscapes are also really beautiful, something that you can enjoy already on the road to get there. Today you can visit the San Pablo lake, Condor rescue centre, Otavalo indigenous market, and a choice between Cotacahi (leather town) or the Peguche waterfalls. With this private day tour you will be picked up and dropped off at your hotel in Quito.

The main attraction of Peguche is the Waterfall, surrounded by the eucalyptus forest. It was a sacred location for the Incas, and it is still a place of pilgrimage and religious ceremonies. The hike around will take about 45 minutes and you can even get into the Peguche cave.

The Condor Rescue Center is close to Otavalo. With help of the Dutch Foundation ‘Stichting Doen’ big birds like eagles, hawks and of course the Condor will be given a shelter if they are injured. There are is an estimation that there are only 80 Condors left in Ecuador. There is also a small exhibition of the history of the birds in Ecuador and other general information.
